The Galaxy F22's dual-core Exynos 7990 (not necessarily the same as the Exynos 7885 used in the F and F1 series) is a true octa-core SoC with eight CPU cores clocked at 2.2GHz and eight less-clocked cores. The chip has four high-performance cores and four power-efficient cores that work at a more conservative 1.5GHz. 

Samsung designed the Exynos 7990 specifically for mid-range devices with 4K video recording and games, and it is a seriously beefed-up chip. It features an LPDDR4 memory controller that supports speeds up to 8Gbps, an octa-core CPU with 16MB of LPDDR4 eMMC 5.0 cache, and 128MB of onboard HMB2 storage. 

When pitted against the Apple A11 Bionic in the iPhone XS, the Galaxy F22 achieved higher scores in all benchmarks. The iPhone XS's performance was a bit hit and miss, however.

➤ Camera

When it comes to taking photos, you can expect everything from auto modes to the pro mode. I was a little disappointed in the lens quality when zoomed in or far away. 

There’s no OIS, so there’s a pretty big chance you’ll be relying on the optical image stabilization (OIS) to get the shot. In low light, I experienced issues with focus, something that’s become expected from Samsung. 

The Galaxy F22 doesn’t have an Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) and the phone isn’t equipped with an optical zoom lens. You can still use auto settings for these photos, which help the phone get the shot you want. 

But you don’t get the maximum level of control you would in the normal modes. As for HDR, Samsung does it just as poorly as on the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.

➤ Battery Life

During my tests, the Galaxy F22 comfortably charged up my OnePlus 3T. The HD+ Super AMOLED display and fast-charging capabilities make the Galaxy F22 a power user’s dream. The F22 was tested on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 processor and 6GB of RAM. 

While the processor is solid, the F22 can feel a bit clunky during intensive apps. This phone is best played around the kitchen or bedroom, when you need an extra burst of power and stability. 

The F22’s front camera has a 16MP sensor with a high-definition SuperPixel for sharp, detailed selfies. The back camera has an 8MP sensor that takes clear shots with an impressive f/1.9 aperture.
